Reines Kölnisch Wasser– The classic reimagined
Eau de Cologne is much more than a fragrance – it is a piece of European cultural history. Created in the early 18th century in Cologne, it was originally considered a fragrant healing water: a clear, invigorating composition of citrus notes and herbs that was used both internally and externally. Word of its refreshing effect quickly spread, and soon it became an indispensable part of pharmacies, boudoirs, and suitcases. It was appreciated throughout Europe – as a symbol of purity, elegance, and modern body care.
The real highlight: in contrast to the heavy, opulent perfumes of the time, cologne water was light, fresh, and understated. It fit in with the emerging ideal of hygiene, clarity, and naturalness – and it never really went out of fashion over the centuries.
Reines Kölnisch Wasser (translates to Pure Eau de Cologne) also has a long tradition at HARRY LEHMANN. It has been an integral part of our fragrance range for almost 100 years – as a symbol of simplicity, freshness, and clear compositions. We have now carefully revised this classic. The aim was not to change its character, but to refine it. The result is a fragrance that is even fresher, more invigorating, and more energetic – like a deep breath on a clear summer morning.
How do you use cologne correctly?
Cologne is not a classic perfume with a heavy scent, but a refreshing fragrance – intended for generous use. It can be applied directly to the skin, neck, temples, or wrists. A few spritzes on the neck or in the hair can also have a soothing effect. It is particularly pleasant after a shower or in the morning – as a fragrant way to wake up.
Tip: On warm days, a few drops on a cool cloth or a spritz on your clothes can provide instant refreshment.
Durability – and why repetition is desirable
An essential feature of cologne is its lightness – and thus also its more volatile nature. Unlike eau de parfums, which score points for their high concentration and long-lasting effect, cologne lives in the moment. Its durability on the skin is usually limited to a few hours – this is not a disadvantage, but part of the concept.
This is precisely what makes it so pleasant to use: you can, and indeed should, reapply it several times a day. It is a ritual of freshness that can be repeated again and again – without being overpowering or intrusive. Ideal for people who love subtle fragrances and want to invigorate themselves throughout the day.
A fragrance that never goes out of style
In a world full of heavy, sweet, and conspicuous perfumes, cologne is a quiet companion. It does not impose itself – yet it remains memorable. The new version of our Reines Kölnisch Wasser continues this story and brings it into the present: fresh, modern, and timeless at the same time.
Try it out – not just as a fragrance, but as a daily ritual of clarity and renewal.
